My passion for working with and helping others extended as far back as I can remember. In the early 1990s, I earned my State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Firefighter certifications while pursuing my pre-nursing course of study. Life, as it often does, changed course and presented me the opportunity to enter into the government sector where I have spent the past 23 years serving at the local, state, and federal levels. My career has been both challenging and rewarding; however, my passion for working with and helping others in a health-related field has never subsided. This, along with my entrepreneurial spirit, is what guided me to the world of permanent cosmetics.
I was first introduced to permanent makeup, or cosmetic tattooing, in 2012 when a friend had an eyeliner procedure done and spoke to its benefits. I was intrigued because for years, I suffered with sparse eyelashes, eye allergies, and dry eyes not to mention spending countless hours applying makeup to achieve better-defined eyes. After further research, I decided to have an eyeliner procedure performed and have never looked back! I was amazed at how it instantly enhanced my eyes, and I could not believe the time it saved every day! My self-esteem and self-confidence increased,
and I became a true believer in the benefits of cosmetic tattooing.
In April 2018, an opportunity to train for this career field presented itself and resonated with me. I felt incredibly drawn to cosmetic tattooing and knew right then, I was meant to do this. Upon receiving my State of Florida tattoo license, I underwent an intensive 20-hour permanent makeup and microblading training program through Perfectious Tatu in Merritt Island, Florida. Here, I expanded upon my knowledge in facial anatomy and tissue composition, blood-borne pathogens, cross-contamination prevention, and color theory as well as practiced my newly acquired cosmetic tattooing techniques on live models for “real-world” application. Following my initial training program, I elected to further my education and skill development by participating in their Apprenticeship Program where I received over 100 hours of hands-on experience performing microblading, powder brow, eyeliner, and lip procedures.
As I progressed and my clientele grew, so did my dream of having my own unique space where women and men alike could experience the many benefits of cosmetic tattooing. Knowing I play a role in helping someone look and feel their best coupled with the satisfaction and sense of purpose cosmetic tattooing provides me only fueled my intention, and on October 1, 2018, my dream became a reality when I opened my own studio,
